Polish champion and seven-time Polish cup winner Sławomir Murański finished his participation in Rotax Grand Finals held in Italy. The dramatic accident and its consequences excluded Murański from participation in this event.
Sławomir Murański will not take part in tomorrow’s qualifications of the DD2 Masters category. In today’s inaugural qualifying heat, as a result of an accident he suffered an injury, which excluded him from participating in the Grand Finals. The fastest Polish DD2 Masters driver has a broken collarbone and many bruises. This is the effect of “overturning”, as in carting jargon is called the behavior of a trolley flying in the air after contact with another go-kart.
Murański started today’s qualifications very well. In the official qualifying in his group he took the fourth position, which gave him the thirteenth place in the general classification and start to qualify from 3-4 lines in heaths. On the third lap of the first qualifying race, the Pole took the risky overtaking maneuver of Slovenian Primoz Matelica coming in fifth. However, this skillfully „closed” Murański from the inside of the track and a collision occurred. Murański’s go-kart jumped into the air, rolled over and flew several dozen meters with the driver. Crash looked very dramatic.
Let us remind you that the start in this year’s Rotax Grand Finals was the sixth in Sławomir Murański racing career. The Pole has as many as 10 tickets entitling him to take part in this event. In the 2017-2019 seasons, he won European series four times and was awarded with additional tickets to the Grand Finals. 2018 season was the best. That year he won the Polish Rotax series and the European Nordic Challenge and the prestigious Euro Tropy, as the first Polish driver in history.
