Parolin chassis secured two places on the OK-N Junior podium at the FIA Karting World Cup in Viterbo, with Luigi D’Ascoli finishing 2nd for Modena Kart Racing Team and John McLellan taking 3rd for Ward Racing.
Elton Hedfors added 4th for Modena Kart Racing Team, while Federico Rossi led three Parolin drivers into the OK-N top ten with 8th for AKM Motorsport.
The event took place at Leopard Circuit Viterbo, Italy, from 8th to 11th October, bringing together 138 entries in OK-N and 110 in OK-N Junior. All Parolin drivers competed for partner teams, with the chassis accounting for almost 17% of the total entry and 13 of the 36 Junior finalists. The large fields were divided into two pools in each category, meeting only in the Finals, while tyre management was important without a complete new set available for the decisive races.
D’Ascoli was among the leading Junior contenders throughout the weekend. Heat victories and a Super Heat win earned him a place on the front row, and he secured 2nd in the Final classification. McLellan completed an impressive recovery after qualifying 54th overall. He made strong progress through the heats, finished 2nd in his Super Heat and advanced from 6th on the Final grid to claim 3rd.
Hedfors also won in the heats and remained in the leading group throughout the Final before being classified 4th. His Modena Kart Racing Team team-mate Troy Ferguson climbed from 12th on the grid to cross the line 2nd, setting the fastest lap. Penalties placed him 13th in the official classification.
Ioannis Kolovos added another Junior top-ten finish for Modena Kart Racing Team. After topping his Qualifying group, a retirement in the heats complicated his weekend, but he recovered eight places in the Final to finish 10th. Team-mate Ruzgar Evci gained six positions to take 11th.
In OK-N, Rossi’s weekend included a heat victory before he finished 8th in the Final, immediately ahead of AKM Motorsport team-mate Nikolaos Karagiannis in 9th. Riccardo Ferrari completed the top ten for M2 Racing after setting the fastest Qualifying time in his group.
Marco Parolin said:
“The World Cup in Viterbo was a clear demonstration of the growing interest in the OK-N classes, a project aimed at national markets that we have supported from the very beginning. I was pleased that, despite not competing as a factory team, Parolin was the second most represented chassis in the event, and the most represented in OK-N Junior. Our private teams also achieved important results, including a double podium in the Junior class with D’Ascoli (Modena) and McLellan (Ward). Our goal as a chassis manufacturer is to provide our customers and teams around the world with the most competitive products possible. When I see them fighting against factory teams at the highest level, I feel genuinely satisfied and proud of them.”
Parolin Motorsport will now turn its attention to the World Championship for OK and OK-Junior at La Conca, Italy, on 8th November.
