Italian drivers proved to be the fastest in the Rok Cup Superfinal. They dominated especially in senior categories. Domenico Cicognini and Luca Bosco won the Super Rok and Shifter Rok.
Domenico Cicognini became the winner of the Rok Cup Superfinal in the Super Rok category. The Italian driver won the qualification and proved to be the fastest in the final race. In the category of Super Rok took off just 27 drivers from several countries. There were no Poles in the stake.
The winner of the Super Rok Cicognini is an experienced driver who has already stood on the podium of the world final twice. In the 2014 season, he took second place among juniors (Michał Kasibowski of Poland was the fastest then), two years later he took third place in the senior category. In the Saturday final race, the driver of Flowers Racing SRL was slightly ahead of his compatriot Mattia D’Abramo and Danish driver Isac Jacobsson.
In the Shifter Rok category, in which 66 drivers took part this season, including four Poles, the fastest was Italian Luca Bosco (Manetti Motorsport). Bosco won pole position, but in the qualifying heats ranking he gave way to another Italian Federico Squaranti. However, this did not prevent him from settling the final competition in his favor. Bosco finished in first place after the final fight with US representative James Myers competing for the CRG factory. Italian Edoardo Tolfo was third in this category.
Four Polish drivers took part in the Shifter Rok. We saw two of them in the final. This is Hubert Kowalczyk, winner of the Rok Cup Poland and the third driver in the Polish edition of the Rok Cup Filip Wójcik. Unfortunately, the Poles did not play a significant role in the final competition. Kowalczyk finally took 26th position, and Wójcik 28th, although he finished four places in the final. However, the penalty for the wrong position of the front bumper moved him lower.
The other two Poles, Mariusz Szymczak and Igor Lejko, Polish Champion in Shifter Rok didn’t advance to the grand final race. They took part in the final B for the Vortex trophy. Igor Lejko finished 13th, moving 19 places forward in 20 laps. Mariusz Szymczak came to the finish line of this race in 26th place.
